Red Sox 2012 Edition…(4/15)

So here we are 1 week+ into the 2012 campaign and the Red Sox are 4-5. (Better than last year when they were 2-7 at this point.) Of the first three series (against the Tigers, Blue Jays and Rays), they are 1-2-0. (The series against the Rays isn’t technically over with a game to be played tomorrow on Patriot’s Day, but they have won the 1st 3 games, so they have won the series, even if they lose the game tomorrow.) And the last three games have been impressive in their offensive outpouring. I still think they won’t make the playoffs but they will do better than last year’s 90 wins.

In other news, my Crohn’s still sucks and hurts, but my pain from the surgery is getting less and less every day, but it is still there and does hurt very much on occasion. My GE wants to get me off Prednisone, but my body is addicted to it and it is really hard to go below 20mg daily.

I hate the fucking pain…(12/28)

gawd the pain is awful. i have been told that kidney surgery is one of the more painful surgeries, and they weren’t kidding. i am at two weeks into my recovery and it feels like I will never get better. i am glad for the vicodin but still….I would like for the pain to go away so i can go about my daily life. right now my life is sleeping and moaning. i try to do things but the pain doesn’t allow me to think very clearly or for long periods of time.
well, in good news, the red sox traded for andrew bailey as our closer. he should be less heartache-inducing than papelbon. #redsox

Francona is gone, and Lackey is still a Red Sock (9/30)…

why is Francona gone and Lackey still with the Red Sox (but a case could be made for Crawford as well)? Should be the other way around. And what happened with September? usually the Red Sox slide in August. As the saying goes, “there is always next year.” should have been this year.

Once again, the Red Sox revert to form (9/18)…

10 games left in the year, and the red sox are 2 games up in the wild card. how fun. too bad their pitching totally sucks right now. the next three games has bedard, weiland, and lackey pitching for us. i see a sweep by the orioles in the very near future.

Red Sox win their 3rd game…(4/16)

Wow, their record is now 3-10. Awesome. I was actually thinking of taking to this humble blog and starting a “60 wins” category. As in, the red sox are so bad this year, they may only win 60 games (or less). I originally was going to call it 100 losses, but figured that 60 wins is more positive. 🙂 Too bad Beckett/Lester can’t pitch more often. And we sure as hell need to get rid of Daisuke.

Update: Well, I guess I know what I am talking about, huh? The Sox are currently at 66 wins, and if they keep their average of wins up they will finish the year with 100 wins. Nice, eh? As for Daisuke, too bad about the Tommy John surgery, but good riddance.

Stupid Red Sox (9/7)…

gawd, how did this year escape us? We were doing so well, and then all of a sudden the bottom fell out. We will make the playoffs as the Wild Card, but don’t think we have it in us to make the WS. Hate to think that the Yankees are going to win their 27th WS.

And WTF happened to Beckett? The addition of V-Mart was a wise choice, but he is a hitter and not a pitcher – he won’t be able to save us until he can pitch.

9 GB of the Yankees after tonight and 2.5 up on the Rangers (the Rays are done), so it is a 2-way chase for the postseason.

Red Sox Nation 2009 (12/15)…

So the Red Sox opened up their fan club, Red Sox Nation, this weekend. And this year there is a new tier. Normally there are three levels of RSN: Fan Pack, Ultimate Fan Pack, and Monster Pack. They added Hat Pack this year – which is the Fan Pack, but you get a Red Sox baseball hat in addition to all of the Fan Pack stuff! Wow! I am way too poor for Monster Pack (US$299.00 for the ability to purchase two Green Monster seats), and so end up usually getting the Fan Pack. It is nice and it allows me to listen to all of the games throughout the year with Gameday Audio.

However this year, they have added a whole slew of new stuff to each level – very nicely done on their part. Fan Pack the last few years has been very sparse and boring. All of the good stuff was Ultimate and Monster Pack, but now you can get into a drawing for Green Monster seats with Fan Pack.

So, I am thinking that I am going to have to go with Fan Pack again, but enjoy it much more.

Go Celtics! (10/28)…

well, now that baseball is over for me, i can concentrate on sulking and hating life until april (when I get to see the red sox play the A’s april 15).

so, until that comes around i will cheer (half-heartedly) for the Celtics and Steelers.

And the Phillies will win tomorrow, but it should have been the Red Sox playing them. But, nooooo, Francoma had to leave Beckett in for game 2 and 6.

8 mm (10/22)…

Well, I passed my stone last night. Measured it this morning and it is 8 mm long. Wow! Not too much pain, and a little bit of blood afterwards, but other than that, nada. Glad it is finally over.

At school we had a night rally and I took part in it: a mechanical bull riding contest between staff members. Boy, did that cause some pain; but i enjoyed it. That might have had something to do with the moving of the stone. or not. whatever.

And the Red Sox should be in the World Series, but Francoma for some unknown reason left Beckett in Game 2 3 innings too long. We should not have lost that game. That was the turning point in the series. Ah, well, as they say “there is always next year”.

Game 7 (10/19)…

You knew it had to come down to this, right? especially after that most awesome come-back in game 5. unbelievable. i was ready to give up on the Sox (ok, i HAD given up on the sox), and think that the Phillies were winning the world series.

Well, i should know better. 10 years ago, they would have choked; but not the current sox.

GO SOX!

and my kidney stone (or whatever it is) is really killing me. I am living on Vicodin.
