Thanksgiving at the folks (11/27)…

well, here i am at my mother’s house for my annual visit. She comes up to our place twice a year, and we come down here twice a year (thanksgiving and May to celebrate all of the May birthdays). Here is a town called Ridgecrest, CA (right in the middle of the mojave desert region, near Mojave, CA). And we just spent our thanksgiving before the meal seeing “Madagascar 2”. (More on that later – I will do a separate review in another post.)

My New Favorite Video Game: Age of Empires III (11/22)…

I have had this game for awhile but never played it. Well, i got around to playing it this past week and I have to say, it is a heck of a game. Good storyline and pretty cool physics engine. It is, of course, just like all of the other AoE’s: build a town and army and then defeat the bad guy, but how it is done is very much different and better than AoE, and AoE II. I am on a Macintosh and don’t know what the PC version is like, but i really like this game. Now I just need to save up for the expansions.

I really am sick of certain people (11/19)…

so at work today a fellow teacher made a comment about something i said and i wanted to slap the fuck out of him after he said it. He is such a dickwad.

I said I am planning on doing a water balloon toss for my Physics class and his comment was “what standard is that?”. you know what, fucktard, it isn’t any standard, it is fun. god forbid that students should have fun.

and this teacher is the worst when it comes to following the rules. he has no right to ask if i am on task. he is the worst about that. plays a fucking xbox in his class, for jeebus sake.

but because i am too much of a pussy i held my breath and after he was gone and no one else was around, i started yelling at him. the story of my life. hold it all in and then yell at the walls.

New Apple Store: Modesto, CA (11/14)…

Hells, yeah, a new Apple Store opens today in our little town of Modesto, CA. Can’t wait. Going to be one of the first 1000 people there to get a t-shirt.

Will update with pictures of me there. 🙂

Update: Well, it is nice…very nice. Still need to get the pictures.

Update: OK. Here are the pictures. Finally.

Am I a bigot? (11/6)…

I guess I must be a bigot because I don’t get all of the uproar over Prop. 8. Yes, it lost, but so what? I voted NO (actually I voted NO on all of the propositions, except for Measure S), but still the Proposition passed, and now everyone is suing and saying how disgusted they are with California, how the backers are homophobes, etc. The argument they are making on DailyKos and elsewhere, is that they can’t understand how California can vote for Obama, and Yes on 8 at the same time. I get it perfectly. We are not a liberal state. Never have been, never will be. There are pockets of liberalism, but in general, the state is conservative. Just look at this map. It is 2000 and 2004 data, but California is a red state with blues in the major urban areas. I would have been more surprised if 8 had passed.
The one thing that I have always said, is that if THEY want to marry, so be it, just don’t let me hear you or see you. Keep it to yourself. And if you lose an election, you come back in 2 years and try again. That simple.

Random Musings (politics, crohn’s, etc.) (11/5)…

Well, here in CA the very erratic voting populace has spoken. NO on 4, YES on 8. And YES on 1A. Great, more money being wasted.

Too bad about 8. It really shouldn’t have passed. I don’t understand how gays marrying matters. Are they going to ruin our society if they can legally marry?

With 4 going down, abortion lives another year. And the really bad abortion ban bill in SD got defeated also.

My kidney stone is Calcium Oxalate Dihydrate. Cool.

How I am Voting (11/3)…

President: Bob Barr!
Propositions: NO on all of them. Yes on S.
